The movie is based on the manga series "Bakuman" by Tsugumi Ohba, illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was serialized in the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from 11 August 2008 to 23 April 2012.

Movie Plot
Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high student, forgets his notebook in class. His classmate Akito Takagi, notes Mashiro's drawings in it and asks him to become a manga artist to his stories. Mashiro declines. Takagi incites Mashiro to meet with Miho Azuki, Mashiro's crush, and tells her the two plan to become mangakas (manga artists). In response, Azuki reveals her plans to be a seiyuu (voice actress). Mashiro proposes to her that they should both marry when Azuki becomes a voice actress for the anime adaptation of their manga. The two then start creating their manga, under the pen name Muto Ashirogi, in hopes of getting serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump.

Story / Life

Michael "Eddie" Edwards, aka "Eddie the Eagle, was born on 5th of December 1963 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. A good downhill skier, he narrowly missed the Great Britain team for that event for the 1984 Games. To improve his chances to qualify for Calgary in 1988, he moved to Lake Placid, New York in the U.S. to train and enter races of a higher standard, but he quickly found himself short on funds. To realize his Olympic dream, he decided to switch to ski jumping for reasons of cost and easier qualification as there were no other British ski jumpers with whom to compete for a place. In 1988 he became the first competitor since 1929 to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. He became the British ski jumping record holder, ninth in amateur speed skiing, (106.8 mph (171.9 km/h)) and a stunt jumping world record holder for jumping over 6 buses.
