Inspiring TED Talk: Ghada Wali: How I'm using LEGO to teach Arabic (2017)

A very creative and thoughtful approach !

Its nice to see Ghada Wali using her expertise as a graphic designer to teach people Arabic. Its amazing to see how she is using LEGO to make a diverse language like Arabic easy and fun to learn; shedding new light on their diverse culture and heritage.      

About Ghada Wali


Ghada Wali is an award winning graphic designer from Egypt who believes graphic design can change the world. She holds a BA degree as one of the first design graduates of the German University in Cairo and a MA degree in Design from IED Istituto Europeo di Design, Florence, Italy. Her design experience includes MI7 Cairo, Fortune Promoseven and J. Walter Thompson, as well as teaching Graphic Design in both the German & American Universities in Cairo. Her objective as a designer is to learn about, and educate, people through graphic design.

Talk Details
After a visit to a European library in search of Arabic and Middle Eastern texts turned up only titles about fear, terrorism and destruction, Ghada Wali resolved to represent her culture in a fun, accessible way. The result: a colorful, engaging project that uses LEGO to teach Arabic script, harnessing the power of graphic design to create connection and positive change. About Amy Cuddy 
Social psychologist and bestselling author Amy Cuddy is an expert on the behavioral science of power, presence, and prejudice. Amy earned her PhD from Princeton University and has served on the faculties of Harvard Business School and Northwestern University. She lectures on the psychology of leadership and influence at Harvard University.
